I can't build anything elaborate for my toms because sometimes their buckets have to be moved around the garden. I like the look of those spiral thingies they look a bit sturdier than the single canes I'm using now.

And me. I was going to say that I tell them what fantastic plants they are and how proud I am!
However, my outdoor toms are Red Alert - and they are a small bush. No visible means of support!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Tomatoes in my (tiny) greenhouse are stood between two canes with twine around them. They're not exactly upright in military fashion but they're doing OK.
The outdoor tomatoes are Tumbling Toms, so no support needed.
One more thing - I'm impatient!!! Tumbling Toms are full of flowers, no sign of fruit yet, the cordons are showing a few small green fruits and I can't wait till I'm picking them.My hopes are not always realized but I always hope (Ovid)

My tomato support:
Just a cane, and a piece of wire wrapped tightly around the cane and very loosely around the plant, that way the plant can grow through it if needs be and I can always add more higher up the cane if it grows taller.Current Executive Board Members at Ollietopia Inc:

Thanks everyone! I think the single canes will work best for me - bolstered by a few more when needed. The strings seem to be working this morning but it is v. windy on the plot. Hey ho - they'll just have to manage cos we're away for a week on Friday!I hate leaving my veg
