I had my last three yellow courgette plants left that were growing nicely but in modules still and i desperately needed to plant them on. All the other seeds didn't want to germinate. I went and bought a growbag, planted them up in growpots and this morning I walked out of the door to find they've been eaten to stumps! Looks like I'll have no yellas this year. Maybe someone thinks I was too blessed last season. Green 'gettes just don't taste the same!

STUMPS! You had stumps left? Your down south slugs arn't as efficient as our North Walian slugs, they eat the stumps and pull the roots out to eat them like spaghetti

Where as Leicestershire Slugs are more refined, they just eat rings around each Courgette fruit they come to then move on.

Just to go one better...........We have two legged slugs around here would have taken the growbag contents and all!

Well. You've all made me smile. Frankly, sod organic, they're getting salted next time I see em. I live in "sarf" London and our slugs carry flick-knives. Sorry that was really in bad taste :-)

Well this morning saw about 30 dead snails and slugs in all the pots. They'd had a nibble first though. Got to drag that growbag elsewhere before it's too late I think.

has anyone tried nematodes? i have, in previous years, had a slug problem with my spuds, and was going to try them but would appreciate anyones feedback.
on the spud issue though, grew kestrel this year and dug up 3 plants and they dont seem to have been had (hope i haven't spoken too early)

We had a massive slug problem last year and tried nematodes. I have to say i was a little skeptical at first but they worked like a dream. Got a bumper crop of veggies and this year i have barely seen a slug I'm sure they will return but at the mo it is 1-0 to me
