  • What happens to the compost

After my Potatoes are all dug up (they are in tubs) What do i do with the compost can it be reused for other things?
My mind is a blank canvas waiting to be scribbled on!

I throw mine into the compost daleks to help balance out all the other stuff.

I either chuck it on the beds at my allotment or add a bit of fertiliser (blood & bone or chicken pellets) and use it to grow salad leaves in.

I've mixed in some fertilizer and fresh compost and used it to grow other veggies...just not tomatoes.

True. Not more tomatoes. No potatoes either. Same family tree or what ever you want to call it. Likewise, don't grow toms in spent potato compost.

I've got celery in one and lettuce in another after working in a few chicken pellets and some BFB and both are doing well. When they come out i'll bung the spent compost in the daleks if there's room. If not I'll just mulch it round the fruit bushes. Like others have said, you shouldn't use the same compost for members of the tomato/potato family due to the risk of infection. This family also includes the deadly nightshade so don't try growing that either
