  • Stealing Leaves

On cycling to work this afternoon I noticed that the roadside was full of bags of leaves, I imagine waiting to be collected by the council. Does anyone know if there's anything to stop me stealing them for the allotment when I get home tonight? I could do with them but I don't want to get arrested in the early hours of the morning.

Just a side point.....our allotment society phoned the local council and now the little truck that hoovers(!) up all the fallen leaves dumps them in a communal bin for us to use.
I must admit to collecting leaves one year and filled 2 large compost bins....which resulted in about 2" of compost......not exactly the best return, so never bothered after that.

You never know what you'll get nicked for. There's a woman in the paper today who was arrested for not throwing a kid's football back over the fence. I kid you not. But where are the coppers when the allotments get vandalised?

There's a load of "abandoned" pallets at the top of the road which have been holding new kerbstones (Council are making the pavements level at last) - DARE I GIVE THEM A GOOD HOME, OR WILL I GET NICKED FOR STEALING? There's never anyone about to ask when I get home from work.

I say "go for it" You need them more than they do, and if they're going to a good home, who could complain.
anyway its all in a good cause!

You could always leave a note.
LOL im sure they would be glad they dont have to lift and transport them. If they are white pallets they are usually disposed of. If they are blue they are re used.

There was a blue one abandoned for over 2 weeks in my local park so I took it, figuring no-one could have wanted it that much - have now found a local industrial estate where pallets are just dumped (theres also an abandoned bathtub I've got my eye on!)
