I think my seeds were the Grow Your Own ones too thinking about it - must have had some rogue bed hoppers! When I posted Albino Beetroot? I had absolutely no idea such a thing existed - feels a bit like a B.O.G.O.F bargain now - so result. If any tecchie wants to delete my post, cos white beetroot is probably getting boring now!

I grow white beetroot from reelseeds, as they say, the leaves do get sometimes used as a spinach and the roots taste exactly the same as the red ones.
We have them with a normal meal, boiled and then skinned, easy! No mess and no red poo in nappies to worry about next day

I also grow red beetroot to use in salads, because I like the colours, but for normal stuff, white is much preferred here.

Btw, my OH made the observation the other day, that white beetroot taste pretty similar to sweet carrots and they are alot easier to grow and clean for the kitchen (well easier than my carrots anyway, which I can hardly ever grow to a good shape).

Just out of curiosity, what is normal stuff for beetroots to you? Only ask cos 90% of ours is used either fresh in salads or pickled (again, usually with salads) and we hardly use any of it as, say, a roasted veg.

Have grown the stripey stuff in the past and decided this year that I preferred the normal red stuff as it looks prettier. Not grown the white or yellow though.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Normal stuff? Well, we just boil it for a while in the skins, scrape the skins off and eat with a meal. A couple of days ago we had it with new potatoes, courgettes fried in garlic and sausage.
A day before that, potatoes, beans and beetroot..... and sausage, I like sausages

Just use it like any other vegetable. Roasting it is OK, but only if we are roasting something else, so boiling works very well for us.
