hi, quick question... when do i "harvest" my early purple sprouting brocolli? Ive now got a few "heads" but wasnt sure when i should pick it. do you only get one "head" per stalk? if so not sure ill grow it again coz its taken over so much of the bed with its massive leaves & for a little head of brocolli??

Cut the little head before it starts to open up into flowers. Cut just below the head and you'll get sideshoots develop into more sprouts

Oh yes - cut the head just below where it actually becomes a head (if you see what I mean) - you don't want to cut too much stalk. New sprouts will develop between the main stalk and the leaf joints

Plus they're one of the many things which once you've grown your own the supermarket stuff is just never acceptable again.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
