  • Hamburg Parsley

Spotted a packet of these at the local Garden Centre. Look similar to Parsnip but it says on the packet 'Tastes like a cross between Kohl Rabi and Celery'.
Was going to grow Celeraic this year, but now might try Hamburg instead.

    Any growing tips from anyone?

Reading the seed catalogues Snadger it tastes of parsley, turnip, parsnip and celery. Most say a stronger flavoured parsnip with a hint of celery. If you do grow it do not peel it before cooking because it discolours.

Not seen this one Snadger, but it sounds great! Mr D isnt a big fan of parsnips, but I love them, especially when roasted, so something with a hint of parsley flavour would probably be something he'd be more likely to eat!

Methinks I'll have to keep an eye out for this one! What 'brand' of seeds were they Snadger?

The one I want to try next year is Salsify. It is supposed to have the flavour of oysters and asparagus. Again just 85p from DT Browns,

Thanks Nick and LJ, guess I'll have to see if I can get round Mr D's ban on buying seeds, wonder how I may be able to do that??

Hmm, the Salsify sounds fab too LJ, may have to try some of that too! Will let you know how I get on with persuading Mr D!
