I live in south west france. Last year was a (relatively) cold and wet year and I grew parsnips (indispensible for ex-pats) easily. This year is hot and dry and I can't even get them to germinate. Does anyone know any tricks?

Welcome to the vine, Andrewmoss.
As Two_sheds says, germinating parsnips is one of the queries which seems to come up quite often, so the 'search' button (3rd from the right on the green bar near the top) is your friend here!
We've quite a few grapes who live in France on here, and I'm sure they'll be after to compare notes too.

Welcome Andrew, hope you have enjoyed trawling through the many, many, many threads about parsnips and their germination or lack of! I put some in 3 weeks ago as my very last try (5th time all failed before even with the excellent advice from other grapes). I bought a new packet of seed and sowed the whole lot in two 3 ft rows (you can imagine how thick that was) in the hope of getting at least a few up. If the whole lot come up I'll be jubilant and will not mind thinning. It's ironic that my favourite veg is parsnip and I can't seem to grow them!!Granny on the Game in Sheffield
