Evening all. I have pulled some Paris Market carrots today and noticed that some of them are green at the very top. Does this mean that like potatoes exposed to the air that the green part is poisonous? I took the green bits off before I steamed them BTW and they were delicious, though not as sweet as the Nantes.

The green bit is not good to eat. You can help prevent this by keeping an eye on your carrots and if the tops are showing earth them up a bit like you do potatoes (but not as much) just to keep the "shoulders" covered. It's daylight that turns them green,

The green bits don't taste good Florence Fennel but I don't think they are poisonous like green potatoes. I agree with Rustylady - when carrots start pushing out of the ground cover the shoulders over with earth / compost to exclude light and stop the tops going green.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
