I think they are potato fruits. They are poisonous so don't eat them. There is a thread on the vine where people are growing spuds from the seeds inside some of these http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...9-a_20577.html

They are potato fruits. You can easily see how they are related to tomatoes and nightshade. They are indeed poisonous as Shirl said.

Pick them off and bin them unless you are planning to grow your own potatoes from seeds.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

We used to call them potato apples when we were kids and we'd fire them at each other from our catapults. Probably a council bye-law prohibiting that sort of thing nowadays.

LOL I couldn't agree more Tattie:
                garlic leaves went yellow prematurely
bird trapped in the fruit net
                greenfly on the peppers
                spinach ran to seed
cabbage whites flapping around the brassicas and pigeons sitting on the TV aerial watching me plant out the broccoli...

                Tesco beckons...... b.
