  • Composting pea plants

I have tried to strip off every last pod, but the tangled mess of plants combined with my poor eyesight and lack of patience means that some pods will inevitably get into the compost bin.
As it is a cold heap, am I likey to get "volunteer" pea plants next year?
I ask because I throw any and all veg remains from the kitchen in my compost, and have recently removed what appear to be three tiny tomato plants from my beds, and the only surce I can think of is the compost.

If it works the same as when i composted my Nasturiums they seed everywhere. I must of literally pulled hundreds of them this year. Spuds are just as bad if you compost the peelings or plants.
Never mind the TWADDLE here's the SIX PETALS.

The mice will probably seek out any mature peas - they love them.
Any 'volunteer' peas are easily hoed off - just look at them as green manure!

I don't pull up my peas until they are completely dead. The advantages are:
Nitrogen is added to the ground longer
Any Pods left on the plant dry out naturally and are more visible
The peas in these pods are sown next year saving the need to buy more
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.

I thought of that, but needed the room, so out they came.
          Left the roots in though.

Hi CC, I never put tomato waste in the compost since last year when I was inundated with tomato plants everywhere I used the compost!
