  • onions...

hi all, I am new too gardening/allotments, 4 months in fact. I planted some onions in April and have been waiting for the foliage too die back but pesky slugs ate it. my question is should i pull up the onions or leave them, will they continue to grow with no green foliage? any help appreciated.

I doubt they will grew any more without the foilage, I would pull - allow to dry and store

Can you pull the onions up whenever you are happy with their size or do they need to reach full maturity to be edible?

Cosmo....s, you can take onions to use at any time....if you want them to store you have to wait until they die back and dry them out properly.

Should shallots be dried as a clump or separated?
I lifted mine on Sunday and they are currently sitting still stuck together on a rack in a well ventilated but dry environment along with my red and white onions.
