Where do you dry your onions ?

I use the wire racks from those plastic mini greenhouses in the sun if we have any then into the shed. I don't trim or rub off any mud till they're dry and then I am very careful not to bruise them as that makes them more likely to rot.
I want 10ft tall onions!

How do you know when they're dry enougth though?
