  • Tomato's splitting at bottom???

    hi, can anyone shed any light as to why my ready for picking tom's are splittuing at the bottom, i water sparingly in the evening and not at all if pots look damp, but when i go to pick them the next morning i find a couple have splitAny advice welcome

    They need regular watering - not too much, not too little, just constant - also temperature changes can cause splitting, is your GN well ventilated, shaded?

      yes it's open all day on warmer days and closed in evening..

        Irregular growth pattern = splitting tomatoes. Hot day, cold day, hot day, you're fighting a losing battle against the British climate. Make sure the tap roots have a water "reservoir" for constant supply (very difficult if using growbags ).
        I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

          I suspect it's the weather, not you. Annoying though. I do find that some varieties are worse than others. The otherwise admirable Sungold is a beggar for splitting.
