  • Potatoes for storing?

Has anyone good advice - preferably based on previous experience - of the best varieties of potatoes for storing over the winter? Last year I found Desiree stored very well. Has anyone tried storing Nicola, Ratte, Pink Fir Apple or Valor? Any other good varieties? Thanks!

VeggieNut, first and second earlies (which some of yours are) don't store well. Their glory is that they are new potatoes and should be eaten fresh.

Main crop potatoes will store well . Maybe others can advise you on which varieties will store best.

Just personal here but I think they are all horrible once it gets to the end of the season. I get just desperate for the new potatoes to be ready. If there's a gap between the new potatoes and old potatoes fit to eat I go on to pasta and rice.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
