This morning has not been good. In the plot this morning, something has eaten the heads off of 6 of my 9 surviving sweetcorn, made itself comfortable in a bed of carrot seedlings and I have blight on my tomatoes. I have pulled out 20 plants so far from the bed, salvaging some green tomatoes (will they ripen with a banana? or am I best heading for chutney?). As a result I now have a vant bed (about 4 feet by 25 feet) which has 3 sweetcorn, 2 pumpkins and 2 courgettes in. What can I plant to make use of the space - so that it doesn't look quite so much like a graveyard? I have got some brassica seedlings on the go (not all of whom will survive), and the rest of the plot has beetroot, salad, onions, beans, last peas, carrots.
Any suggestions most welcome.
