  • What are these white spots on my Spuds?

    Hi guys.

I dug some of my spuds today and noticed a lot of them have white spots on them. I was hoping some of you knowledgeable folk here might be able to tell me whether it's something to worry about or not. Also, Will slug damaged spuds store or should they be considered a lost cause. I don't want to poison anyone on my first attempt at spud growing.

    Many Thanks!!!!

No they won't. As with any damage, rot will get in and ruin the whole lot if you try and store them.

Use up the damaged ones, and store the good ones.

Are they "white bumps", if yes it could be Swollen lenticels, may lead to soft rot, must admit I have been eating spuds with this or similar on. As to slug damaged spuds - I would say that they wont store for long if at all.

What are the white spots like Moneyspider ? If it's just little spots on the skin like pin pricks then it doesn't matter - just means they've been a bit overwatered. If some other kind of spots then sorry, I don't know.
