I dont know what i've grown!

I've grown some beans, sold as plug plants as kidney beans, however i'm not 100% convinced!

They are just green pods, quite large like runners, and when reay (following other advice waiting for them to be loose and rattling!) have picked a couple and they are white!

So i am now thinking some sort of borlotti bean?

Now i have a load of them, any advice on storage? I assume, if they are a bean type thing, i can follow a generic dry them out and then glass jar?

A photo would be helpful here if possible, but I think drying and storing sounds good. Are they perhaps what we know as "butter" beans?

Was the pod completely dry and cracked when you took them off the plant? I'm asking because if you took them off the plant before they were dry then they might not have developed and could be immature kidney beans.........otherwise you have just got a different type of bean. Also, many of mine are nowhere near dry and crispy on the plant yet....only one and they were sown really really early.

they werent dry, the pods are starting to go a lighter colour of yellow, with some brown / rust spotting, so fearing problems, have taken one off.

I might look at leaving the rest on and waiting for the pods to dry completely.

Aye, they change colour once the pods have gone white......leave em on until crispy and you might get a colour change. That's the best bit - opening them to find out how patterned or coloured they are

"kidney bean" is a generic term for a dried (or haricot) bean. You can still eat them, red or white, as a kidney bean.
