It's been my surprise of the season.

The plant has been growing really well, but I was concerned about it fruiting. Not any more!

On a visit to the plot yesterday morning I uncovered a huge fruit - well, huge compared to anything else I've grown. I'm hoping that I get more, but I'm happy in that one fruit will hopefully provide me with more seeds for next year!

Interesting looking critter Wayne. How big is your fruit?

I am not having much success with any of my squash/cucurbits again this year. I have one nice marrow coming along but the courgettes are just getting started now My pumpkins have tiny golf ball sized fruits so I guess I won't be carving any of my own this year for Halloween

Sounds like the very much like my situation shirl. I've had one courgette so far, but there are two more on the same plant. I also have a chestnut squash plant that has a few small squashball sized fruits that look like light bulbs, but other than that - not a lot.

The patty pans never really came to much, the lebanese didn't really do a lot either.

The hubbard fruit is slightly bigger than a football I guess - I think it's supposed to get bigger still. Whoop whoop!!

I'd hope they come true. My Martock Broad Beans did - even though I mistakenly grew them next door to some Aquadulce.

Didn't think my squashes and pumpkins were doing any good either. But went out this morning and found 3 pumpkins about the size of a small football, and several others starting to grow. Haven't seen anything of any butternuts though. Courgettes have given me enough but not the usual glut and I have had a few patti pans.

Well we have been away for 5 days and have a mountain of courgettes. Millions. More than we can eat. Will have to give a few away! Also we have lots of blue hubbards -not the warty sort but the smooth skin, from 3 plants we have 9 squash. I have 4 butternuts - first time I have got any at all to set! We have about 30 or so pumpkins of various sorts and a dozen red onion squashes. Only squash type thing that has failed is the buttercup for some reason. Still, that lot should see us through the winter!
