  • Tomatoes splitting

I have been growing Sweet Millions cherry toms this year. I've had loads of lovely tasty tomatoes but despite regular watering (every evening) and doing my best not to let them dry out a lot of them are still splitting.

Is there anything else I casn do to avoid it?
    Thanks!

Splitting is caused by erratic water supply, not too much water. How big are their pots, containers?

Can also be caused by the way you feed them. If you usually feed once a week try feeding half strength twice a week. However some varieties are thin skinned and it can be difficult to stop them splitting.

They are in 14l builders buckets standing in a gravel tray which usually has some water in so they dont dry out. the plum tomatos are in exactly the same situation but none have split. Might try the twice a week feeding and see if that helps!

Some of our toms tend to split after we've had lots of rain (some are worse than others) - so maybe that's 'erratic watering'?
