Red Onion Seed

I have great success with onions but have poor results with Red Baron from seed or sets.

Can anybody recommend a good variety of Red onion, preferably from seed, that give a good yield and stores well, Red Baron excluded. Yes I know many of you get good results from it but I want other options and not get all mauldlin reading about how good yours are.

Red Pearl I find very good and keep better than red baron

Hi piggers, got loads of different varieties of onion from seed this year to see what works on our plot. These are the red uns if you wanted to join me in a seed trial, I'll be growing ten modules of each and would be happy to share seed/compare notes

Oh dear, I've bought red baron seeds, will have to see how it goes. I've also got Onion Cipolla Tropea Rossa Tonda from the Italian Seed Co. Will have to let you know how these go as I've not grown anything yet.

I think that DT Browns sell them as well Piglet.

I've just sowed some Mammoth Red I haven't grown them for a couple of years and they aren't as red as Red Barron or Red Pearl, but they are nice tasting & if you are so inclined they will make a good size for showing.
