What AREN'T you going to grow next year

I won't bother with outdoor melons again - they took up one huge container and every wee melon turned yellow and fell off.
Big Boy tomatoes have not produced one single fruit, so they are for the push.
White Lady runners; only two from a whole packet germinated, and those have been prone to every insect invasion going, while the scarlet runners on the same poles are growing beautifully. Am trying the Serbian Pole beans I got from Two Sheds next year. Thanks TS.

I might give up on carrots. I've tried everything to stop the carrot root fly eating them before we do, but nothing has worked, not even the 'supposedly' resistant variety 'Flyaway' which wasn't particularly tasty either - so that was a double blow.

Butternut Squash... Thisis the third year in a row that they have grown massively and then decided to set fruit right at the end of August I'll fleece them and see if I can nurse a fruit into ripening, but really, they've been a waste of space.

We won't bother with spuds, carrots or allotment tomatoes next year. Carrots just end up tiny with rotton bits (yuck!) spuds are too much effort and tomatoes just get blight.

I wont be growing pak choi...or at least not nearly as many, they bolted way too fast.
What else? Peas...I just don't have enough space to get a decent amount. This year I got about 2 pods on each plant! Not too sure about cucumbers either..its only the dogs that like them!

Sweetcorn, it comes all at once, then if you don't pick it on the same day, it goes over
Takes up too much space.

Mind you I have grown squash underneath them, so it's not a complete waste. although they haven't done very well this year either, too dry I think.

Definately not growing any Brassicas because i only have a small raised bed and 1 broccoli took over a third of it
(that is unless i can find a very small cabbage or cauli)

Everything else i grew did very well so sticking to what i know until i get a Lotti

It's my thread, so I'll butt in if I want....

John, have you thought of trying sprouting cabbage; I grow it in a tray and when the leaves are an inch diameter, chop those and use them like that - the beauty is they grow back. And if you keep them in the greenhouse you can keep an eye on cabbage whites.

Weeds. I hope! Having only had the plot for a couple of months, I've reached level 3 types and the couch grass is back...

Everything else is a potential, although I shan't bother with brassicas (aka 'smelly veg') beyond a few red cabbage for pickling (yum) and possibly cooking - or not! - and eating with onion.

i wont be growing, carrots or beetroot, both took an age to grow and then they were only tiddly things, could use the space better.

i'll also cut down on corguettes, i grew a few varieties, round, patty pan, denise, all nice apart from patty pan, although i think the slugs enjoyed those.
just tooooo many to deal with.

i'm going to try and over winter my chillis and peppers and just try a couple of different ones next year.

Beetroot - grew some fantastic ones, cooked them using a Delia recipe and then discovered I really don't like them!
