  • Chilli Id Parade

Calling chilli experts... I grew chilli shake this year and have ended up with 3 types of peppers. Does anyone know what they are please?

The ones in the first pic turn a light orange colour, the second pic shows that they turn red, the third one seems to stay that dark green... at least so far none of them have changed colour.

    Thanks

Hi PHJ, Think the first one is Hungarian Hot Wax.
    The second one is Cayenne.
The third one looks like a Spanish variety called Padron.

Don't take my word as gospel on this as I'm sure there will be other opinions.

Have to say they look really healthy..Enjoy your crop.

It's difficult to ID them from that information alone PJH.
The first one which is going orange may go on to turn red.
It looks like Hungarian Hot Wax but it could be many things.
Have a look on the link and see if there is anything to help in the data base.
      Nice looking chillies.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

The first is Hotwax, the second is Jalapeno, the third could be many things but looks a bit long and thin to me. Looks like a sweet pepper maybe.

I grew Chilli Shake too, and I appear to have your first two plus a long thin one. First one I thought may be Sweet Banana, but haven't tasted yet. Second I thought Cayenne cos it looks the same as some named Cayenne I'm growing. The long thin one looks a bit like Joes Long.

Thanks all for the quick responses... I also have cayenne growing out of a separate packet and they are long and thin - I guess there could be different types with the same name. Not as straight forward as I thought it would be to id them all.

Third pic looks just like my Padrons just as Bramble thought, they have a little kick to them.

My anaheim's look like the second one. My cayennes are generally thinner. Not sure about the other 2 though.
