I can't grow yellow beans

this is starting to irritate me now!

My Golden Teepee grew last year, but not this. I didn't get many beans, but they were yellow. All seed gone now, because this year's crop failed.
I tried Marvel of Venice, they failed too, as did Corono d'Oro from here.

I bought some Kentucky Wonder Wax this year, and they've grown, but they ain't yellow.
They are now at shelly-bean stage, and haven't turned yellow.

Is it my soil (sandy)? or what?

I've got Kentucky wonder wax too and they are most definitely green. I'm on clay and mine were (Johnson's World Kitchen ones ).

I think they're making it up that they're yellow

I've been growing Fagioli di Nani/Bush bean creso - it's a dwarf pencil pod bean, definitely yellow and are cropping really well. Got a few spare if you want to try some TS.

I grew some kinghorn wax from Lidl one year, they were pretty rubbish, but think it was a bit of a low light spot for them. Have had a lot of success with Hutterite Soup, but they aren't really yellow (well the seeds are, lol). Have lots of the latter if you want a a few. Is it too late to sow a final crop of beans d'you think?

I've tried Valdor Dwarf for a few years, they're definitely yellow but haven't cropped very heavily apart from the first year (which wasn't as wet as recent summers)

thanks for the offers of more varieties, but I already have a backlog from previous swaps!
I'll give them a go next year.

I want to know why the Kentucky ones aren't yellow though

The very best yellow bean we have ever grown are 'Goldfield' from T & M.

I grew your yellow dwarf beans in a pot, in peat free compost and got yellow beans.

I grew them in clay and got light green beans. Same compost when I sowed them, but then straight into clay.

So???? What happened?????

I'm going to have to do a trial next year:
1) MPC
2) in the ground (sandy, alkaline)
3) ericaceous compost/soil

and see what happens. I suspect the soil, rather than the weather, because I've grown (or tried to grow) yellow beans for over 4 years now, with different weathers.

I have very light sandy soil and this year I have grown Roquencourt dwarf yellow beans with great success. I bought the seeds in Italy but I think yoiu can get them here.

The beans do start off green and get yellower as they mature - I am now waiting for them to mature so I can pick them for shelling and they are a beautiful bright yellow.

Would ericaceuos compost work?? I thought beans liked it quite limey - could be wrong though as I have fairly acid soil and only ever add lime to the brassica bit.

I grew minador from real seeds, they only go yellow when they're ready to be picked, otherwise they're a medium green colour. In clay soil/rotted turf.
can't help why yours aren't sorry.
