Has to be Sun gold and Mexico midget.
Great taste and very vigorous yield.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

This year I grew Tumbling Toms - very good return but they didn't ripen, I got tired of waiting and used them green. Grown from a seed packet.*** Those that did ripen had good flavour.

Two plants I bought from Lidl - Conchita F1, good yield, nice flavour.

Also Sun Gold - after Grapes advised me they are right to be orangey-yellow, I picked some and I can Really really recommend them for taste (yield good too). Grown from seed saved from a plant my daughter had last year.

BUT - I still think Gardener's Delight is my favourite - I used to grow these and drifted away from them - but they're lovely and I plan to grown them again next year.

Seems so many diff choices, i grew Tumbling toms only 10 plants all from seed, now have loads of toms, no problems at all with them just fed and watered them pretty much left them to their own devices. Think i will grow them again next year as i only like little toms .

I like sungold too but I think they take the p*** with the price. I know they are F1 and have to be crossed each year but I'm eating the F3 unhybridised ones now and most of them are great. The ones that are bland aren't going on to the next generation!

One of my Golden Queen ripened the other day and I shared it with DH, absolutely delicious and I have high hopes for the rest. They were planted a bit late really but I think we should with some luck get a reasonable amount off the couple of plants we have. The taste was hugely superior to the Garden Pearl and Red Alert that we have.

I know they're very 'common' but I like 'Moneymaker' & 'Gardener's Delight' along with tumblers. I tasted some interesting looking Green Tiger ones at Southport Flower show the other week & thought they were awful, tough & tasteless, & this was on a stand promoting 'tasty' toms.!

Tumbling tom probably gets lots of recommendation's as many people are restricted to basket growing. Alicante and moneymaker have done well for me this year and will have a go with them again next year.

First year of growing tomatoes (or anything) for me but I can honestly say that the 6 Roma plants that I grew from seed have been fabulous. We have had 3 meals off them already and I must have another 70 or so tomatoes still on the plant! These were planted in reusable grow bags which are deeper than the usual grow bag so maybe this had something to do with my success?

I also grew tumblers but overfilled the hanging baskets so I transferred the whole lot in to our 2 old refuse bins and they have also given great results, to the point where I have had to give boxes of the tomatoes away to friends and family!

My wife obtained some Darby tomatoes from a Heritage seed website and I have to say they are the best tomato I have ever eaten. They are of a similar size and appearance to Tigerella, but the taste ! I know it sounds daft but they are exquisitely sweet with a tinge of saltiness.
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.
