Heinz F1 tomato varieties

Whilst holidaying in Normandy last year I filled in a seed catalogue request form and didnt expect a reply. Well, it turned up today and puts ours to shame with the varieties and selections.

One type really got me salivating and that was Heinz F1 tomatoes. Genuine Heinz seeds with different varieties for making Ketchup, conserve, juice and soup.

Has anybody tried these varieties as I think this boy is going to get some sent over.

Wow! They sound interesting PW! Didnt know that Heinz had special seeds, I thought they just did the best beans and ketchups!

Who are the seed company pw? Do they have a website address?

The catalogue is amazing, it's A4 and has 6 pages of lettuce, 9 pages of tomato to illuminate just two crops.

I didn't know either, but they must be good.

No piccies till you choose what you want to look at, but as most English Derives from French its easy to translate.

I do parlez un petit frenchais - I like to grow stuff from places we visit. I have also bought some stuff off ebay.fr, they have lots of varieties.

There's some really nice looking varieties on there - I like the look of the blue ornamental gourds. 12 euros for delivery to the EU, outside of France.

PW, can I blame you if my husband complains if I buy yet more seeds? I think I need to get myself anothr plot...

Have dusted off my very rusty O level French for this one and had a look - loads of interesting stuff there but have promised myself that I mustn't order any more seeds.

Looks great PW. Would recommend Mesclun for anyone wanting mixed salad leaf. Its in graines potageres (un potager being a kitchen garden). my folks pick us up mesclun seed every year. The french have been doing mixed salad leaf seed for much longer than us.

Paul have you bought seeds from Plants Of Distinction before? I get their catalogue every year but have never placed an order. What are the germination rates like?

Had a mixture of tomatoes from them last year and germination wasn't to bad although I think it was a bad year had a lot of failiures in other seeds from other companies, had some onion seeds Red Pearl this year been in a week a already showing.
