Tomatoes and Chillis

Tomatoes

I grew some tomatoes from seeds I kept from a plant my daughter had last year. They've grown but... all the tomatoes are going yellow, whereas the plant I picked the seed-tomatoes from were growing red tomatoes. I think the variety was Sun Gold.

The question is, should I wait for these to go red? they've been yellow for weeks now.

Chillis

I grew three types of peppers:
Jalapeno, Fresno, Corno Rosso.

The labels faded out.

Now I've no idea which is which, except one seems to be growing longer than the others (I take it that's the Corno). All are green and I'm not sure which if any should go red.

The question is, is it OK to eat them green anyway even if they're a type that should go red?

Sungold as their name suggests do not turn a bright tomato red but rather a pale orange. So I reckon yours are ready to eat, have you tried eating one, they are delicious.

It's OK to eat green chillis, but they may not be as hot when they are red. If you pick them green they will turn red as they dry out and get hotter.

Jalapeno's are best IMO green. When they go red they seem to loose flavour/go sweet.

I try and pick mine as they go dark green with a purplish/pearlesent haze - scaring indicating hotness.

Chillies can be used green or red. Sungold are orange/yellow when ready to eat. Most of mine don't even make it to the kitchen they are superb.

Thanks a million for your replies. I remember these tomatoes as red last year - but I may be mistaken. I've tried a couple and they're lovely, looking forward to using them tomorrow.
