Broad Beans turning Black

Hi All

Just been to the allotment and I noticed my Broadbeans have a bit of black on the leafs on them and I think black where the broadbeans should grow
( not sure as not grown them before)

is this normal?

Sound like they may have just been touched with the frost, once they start growing again in the spring you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

No should not worry, by the way what sort of beans were they

should i cover them if we get anymore frost?

They should be all right a proper overwintering type, Im growing Suttons for the first time as overwintering and these are recomended to have a cloche over them, The main worry with the overwintering beans is that they grow to tall before becoming dormant and this can lead to them getting damaged if there is a lot of wind.

I had to tie mine to a pole as I noticed a few of them where getting damaged from the wind.
