My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
I thought it was. If they grow too much before the cold really sets in, they are likely to bolt in spring as they think they are in their second year. I await rebuttal.

A lot depends on the area and even the micro climate for that area. It may be hot tomorrow but as far as I know there is no forecast for an Indian summer this year? It would be about a week before they started to put roots down anyway!
Not a rebuttal, just an opinion on my behalf.
I suppose they best way is to stagger your plantings which is what I intend doing, then I should have all ends covered!............I hope!

If it was going to be consistently warm then it would be a problem but it'll probably be back cold and wet next week so they won't have had chance to grow much...........
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

No such thing as an Indian summer in Warrington then ?
No sign of the Indian summer here in Leicester.....just grey and slightly warmer than usual. I got my hopes up that I would be able to relax in the garden with a book.
