this evening i had to dig up all my leeks thanks to leek moth

im currently using debris netting on my purple sprouting which seems to be doing a good job.

its looking more likely that most of my crops next year will have to be netted in some shape or form.

do fellow growers use enviromesh, fleece or debris netting.

im leaning towards investing in a large long roll of enviromesh as im fed up with pests ruining my efforts.

does anyone know of a online supplier of good quality cheap enviromesh.

can enviro just be placed on top of crops or does it have to be suspended

Harrod horticultural have recently had special offers on insect mesh ans Kays discount garden also offer a range. None is as economical as debris netting but may be better at the job. In my limited experience it is best not to have the mesh in contact with the veg.

I only cover my brassicas and use enviromesh for that which cost a lot but should last well. I also put a fleece barrier up around my carrots but that hasn't lasted well so I'll replace next year with something more substantial. Don't put anything over my leeks and hadn't heard of leek moth before.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You didn't need to dig up your leeks.
You can just slice them off at the base, and they will regrow, without the maggot which you will have composted
