Hi Pigletwillie. Thanks for the seeds, they arrived today. Will plant some in the next few days when I get a chance. Promise to update the thread as to my success.
You say in your instructions to prick out at the 'crook' stage - could you please forgive my ignorance and explain that stage to me? I will probably sow them individually but my curiosity is peaked now!Happy Gardening,
Shirley

Thanks Piglet - my seed arrived today. Shall sprinkle a pinch into a pot on the windowsill shortly, but the majority will have to be sown a little later this year. Still, might be interesting to see how they fare compared with the earliest sown ones.
Are we going to have a bit of an informal competition? Biggest/fattest/oddest shaped?

Ok lets make it interesting,
Whoever produces the longest banana shallot from my seed shall have the dubious pleasure of winning a
£10 gardening voucher....!!!! and a few other goodies to boot.Last edited by pigletwillie; 10-01-2007, 06:33 PM.

Vey kind of you Piglet Makes it very interesting - nothing like a challenge I planted some of mine today. They were always in line for special attention, but now - well it's lunar cultivation, magic, necromancy, alchemy or whatever it takes to win that prize.
Good luck everybody. Hope you all come second equal .
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Have just registered here Piglet - nice to see you here too. I sowed 49 seeds on 1 January and so far 28 have germinated in modules on a very warm window sill. They have now been moved to a cooler spot on the north-facing kitchen window sill and the first to germinate are already two inches tall. (The latest barely through the soil.) My polycarbonate mini-GH is kept at not less than 8C, so the question is - should I remove the modules to the GH now or wait till all the seeds have germinated?

Sorry for the delay in thanking you but I work away from home during the week and just got back.
