    • Yours are looking good SBP. I've had a look at the roots on mine and not just ready for planting yet.
The second sowing has germinated well and look to doing fine so far.

        • I sowed forty of mine when I received them and placed the tray on my kitchen windowsill; only ten germinated and they all struggled before giving up the ghost. I've decided to wait until next year before sowing anymore; will have a greenhouse by then. Some of those, hopefully will be left to go to seed.

            • Only three of mine germinated from PW seed and sadly they died off one by one.

              • I planted out the banana shallot seedlings a few days ago (6 of them), and since then they have been chomped by something, and partly dug up by blackbirds but they still look much happier in the ground than in the modules, so I think they will be ok providing nothing else attacks them...

                • Being cautious I gave six of my ninety-seven potted up seedlings to one of the old-boys on the allotments. If I kill mine he won't kill his.

Today I planted out 35, should have been 36, but one was brown and dead.

That leaves fifty odd more to plant out.

                  • The 24 we planted out a few weeks ago are going great guns, the ones we sowed into a seed module at the same time have had 7 germinate out of 45, which will be planted out today, and the direct sowing has resulted in 2 germinating so far! Looks like we're going to have some to save for seed and a few to eat aswell, so although not a huge success, at least its not been a total failure as yet!

                    • I've got about a dozen left in modules and looking good now - but they did struggle. I've made a late sowing and they are coming on great. I don't know if I'll ever have the courage to plant any out as they have been so pampered.

                      • Planted out 40 but only 36 left, 4 got pulled out by something along with several onions!
They are all now growing well and about 6inches high.

                              • How are your banana's doing then?

Dont forget, there is a £10 gift voucher to the winner of the biggest banana shallot.

Mine are growing away rapidly now and are starting to take on the typical banana shape.
