Chilli help!

I have 4 cayenne chilli plants with loads oflovely chillis on them but so far not a one has turned red! They are all still green. We have used a few of them as they are but they are not very hot yet, and wanted to make some chilli jam so could do with them ripening up a bit more! They are on a very sunny pation....any tips or is it a suck it and see situation. At what stage do I give up and pick the lot?

Bring them indoors where there is more warmth (esp. at night) and they will soon turn red

It's true, TS gave me the same advice a couple of weeks ago and they are turning all the time now.

I had the same problem with my chillies - i have 2 cayenne, 1 scotch bonnet and one jalapeno. They were outdoor plants, but i noticed tha the cayennes were not ripening. I have moved one indoors to the kitchen, and put the other one in a plastic greenhouse outside, and both are ripening up well with the extra warmth. we dont get alot of sunlight in our back 'garden' so the extra heat seems to be doing it

My Lemon Drops are ripening well on the windowsill, so I've brought the Anaheim & Holy Mole in now too.
Sadly, no Cayenne this year, as I put all my plants outside and they haven't fruited this year (too cold)

My chillies have been carp this year. Only two ripe Cayenne, and lots of green Joe's Long. They are still in the greenhouse at the moment, but will have to come indoors soon (green or not)

Mine are all begining to ripen at a rate of knots. It's great to see just a smidge of yellow on my hot lemons one day and then a fully ripe pod 3 days later.

yep one hot lemon is yellow now...thats tea tonight....my chillis are still outside

It's been the best year for me this year, in the greenhouse (there's a plate of my chillies on one of the threads here) as most varieties ripened (Lemon drop being the one exception, although they have ripened indoors off the plant) I did have some seeds of Purple Gusto off jeanied and grew those plants outside, I've had dozens of chillies off them and they're still growing strong, we must be quite a bit warmer here than in Norfolk TS.
