Tracy, I go to Manchester a few times each year (bit of a hike from here but I love it, don't "trudge" round it, more skip!) but in truth I don't go for gardening products which in most UK cities have moved out to out-of-town garden centres or Internet suppliers (the odd Poundshop and supermarkets might have special offers etc) - but the centres of major cities are much more food and fashion, arts, crafts and culture orientated these days....
The other thing worth mentioning, and not to be a spoil sport, is there's a host of European regs on seeds and you don't want to find yourself falling foul of those so it might be sensible to check first... (I recall going to Ireland and having my cheese sandwich confiscated, have never got over it!) On seeds I think each EU country has it's list of approved seeds (and for farmers at least they're nationally controlled and not the same...). If you Google something like Save Our Seeds Spain (Spain) you might get some useful links....
But when in Manchester why not go to the theatre - appropriately The Royal Exchange (which was the corn exchange) or, the shops (Harvey Nicks...!), the exhibitions....!. And, whatever, have a wonderful trip... b..

Tracy,
Where in Manchester will you be and will you have transport?
I'm in South Manchester and usually go to golden days nursery in Cheadle or Wyvale's in Marple. Wyvale's recently had all their seeds at 50p but I'm not sure if the sale is still on.

Lol Tracy,
That's where I live!
Marple is no good if you don't have transport which is why I asked.
Golden days or B&Q are probably your best bet locally.
You can get the bus most of the way to Golden Days then walk the rest and B&Q is walking distance.

Straight down the A34 (Kingsway) to Parrswood cinema complexe. Turn left just after the cinema/restaurants. Follow the road along it's on the left a few hundred yards up.
You're OH will probably recognise from the directions.
You can get the number 50 bus from the top of Kingsway by the roundabout down to parrswood and then walk the rest if you don't have a car.
