I've now found some 12 inch and 14 inch pots behind the shed, so I've sown 5 to each of the 14 inch pots and 4 in each of the 12 inch pots. Was a bit worried that the 6 inch pots might become top heavy. This should give me 22 broad bean plants (probably more than I would have been able to fit in the raised bed plus I've sown another 24 in my French Bean trough thing as I'm hoping that Broad beans will be done before French beans go in!!! Thanks for the idea Zazen, the grow bags filled three 12 inch pots and two 14 inch pots with some manure added in and I'm still left with a third of a grow bag, so may try and find another container to fill.

      I'm just a tight wad - I'd get 5 pepper/chili plants in a 12 inch pot.

i'm scarey eh? [No, not THAT Scarey - just scarey in general].

i grew BB's in the greenhouse last year and they were brilliant - we had BB's long before anyone else i know! i was worried about pollination and asked for advise on here but in the end, we had plenty to do us till the outdoor ones came along. plus next door neighbour has just got herself a beehive (for bees NOT a new hair-do!) so I'm hoping they'll drop by in the spring and give me an even bigger crop for next year!!!

If you use a dwarf variety like Sutton they don't get top heavy. I grew them in pots in the greenhouse this year and moved them outside when I needed the space for toms and cukes. My big mistake was not growing enough of them. Think I'll have to cram them in like Zazen next year.

Can I ask roughly how many pods do you get per plant ?
