mine too!!! but it has been so incredibly mild. We've had the back door open this week, no heating on etc... I can't remember it being as warm as this at this time of the year before....
You're not alone. Both Garlic & Onion sets have started showing through........not sure what to do about it. Leave them or cover them?...........Anyone got any advice.

I'm no expert, this is only my second year growing both onions & Garlic. Last year I planted them all on 10/10 and some were showing by 28/10. I had a good crop in the summer. This year they went in on 12/10 and some are already showing.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.
Mine has its nose through the soil as well, I'm planting some more this weekend what I got in my seed swap, I've never had any trouble with over wintering my garlic before so you'll be fine HQ.
All the garlic will be fine, garlic is more hardy than people generally think, as long as it doesn't sit in soggy soil, it'll rot before the cold does any damage.

It's great to see something growing when everything else around is dying back isn't it!!
..and nope- I'm not worried about the frosts..and as vegnut says- it's the damp which makes them rot and mush that you need to keep an eye on.
If you tend to have boggy soil- or we get lots of rain, you can always put a cloche over them

Onions and garlic are both hardy plants. They're meant to start growing now - when it gets colder they'll slow down through the winter and hopefully burst into fast growth in Spring.
