  • Anyone else still got toms ripening?

I've grown millefleur tomatoes for the first time this year and they're still ripening, I'm amazed.
I think it's because they're so small but even outside, there's still a few that are turning. They seem to last a long time once ripe too, my other kinds have gone all mouldy but these are still looking good. Shame the flavour isn't brilliant but they seem to be a good variety for extending the season a bit.

I chopped all my toms off the plants about a week ago and then just left them on my kitchen sideboard. Some of them have turned red and I chopped them and put them in a chilli last night.
But I've somewhere in the region of 6 billion green ones to use up. I've made green tomato ketchup, green tomato relish and green tomato pie, and that probably used up 30. so only 5,999,999,970 to go

I cleared mine out of the polytunnel to put the turkeys in (don't ask)

Got 3 buckets of ripening tomatoes in the kitchen.... mostly cherry ones and smaller plum ones, but they are covering the windowsill!

Would have kept them in the tunnel longer if not for the birds.... the temp is pretty stable at around 10 degrees there

Not a bad idea. I have to watch how much liquid i drink and also how much potassium is in my diet though so both soup and tomatoes aren't great, but if I can find room I can freeze the soup and have it a little at a time.

The frost got mine last week- but they were outdoor toms- so they very nearly made it to November!!!

I just picked half a dozen Sunbaby from the patio plant, that I thought had died: flavour is not much though, so the guinea pigs had them.

I've got about a dozen that's just about ripe on the kitchen shelf. After those are eaten I'm back to buying my toms.

I've still got a few plants going great guns outside. I want to hoik them out to clear space, but they're still doing really well. Those are the ones in the ground. The ones in pots are looking a bit poorly now.

You have done well. My last ones bit the dust by the end of september ! I didn't have much luck growing with my temporary greenhouse. I am having a glass one 8ft square next week in which i will build 2 hot beds.

I've still got loads of good sized San Marzano on the plants in flower buckets in one of my greenhouses.
The problem is three chooks are using the greenhouse as there winter quarters.

As each tomato ripens the chooks grab it!

I pulled mine up a couple of weeks ago as I wanted to plant some bulbs there. However I've still got loads of chilli plants outdoors doing really well, still flowering and producing more pods!

Yes, still got toms in greenhouse and peppers too. And a great big bowl of them ripening on the kitchen surface near the window. ( window full of curing pumpkin )
