Overwintering sedlings in GH....

How often should they be watered?
I am going to put in some "Aquadulce" Broad beans, and some garlic in pots as well as those going directly into beds outside.
How often should I be watering those in my (unheated) greenhouse?

broad beans really don't like being in a greenhouse. They grow too soft, it's pointless

Anything overwintering in the greenhouse needs very infrequent watering. Judge by how wet the compost is and water sparingly so that fungal problems won't be encountered!

The Spring cabbage plants I overwintered in the greenhouse last year were only watered when they showed signs of wilting.........maybe half a dozen times only throughout the winter, if that!.

I have some broad beans in the greenhouse in pots - does that mean I should harden them off and get them outside ASAP?

I'm with two sheds on broad beans, no point in growing in greenhouse. However they do need some protection from cold winds. I like to delay sowing mine till end of Nov and find they overwinter better from a later sowing.

i grew some broad beans in the greenhouse last year and found that they did quite well and gave me a nice early crop. Having said that i dont think i actually planted them in the border till about March time and they were outside till then.

I'll leave in greenhouse just now, although have some on the plot as well, so shall see what does best. Sorry if I sort of hijacked this thread.

My plot (garden) is very windy, so I'll try some in the bed and some in GH and see how it goes, I can always harden them off early next year.
