Well I never- Autumn germinating toms

As something kept digging in my greenhouse bed I put a number of chilli and pepper plants in pots round the base of my toms this year to protect them.
A few days ago I decided it was time to bring some of these plants indoors to protect them from the cold.
On inspection I saw what at first I thought was a clump of weeds in one of the pots so pulled it out only to discover it was in fact a clump of tomato seedlings!
I couldn't bring myself to chuck them away as it was clearly from a tomato falling in the pot unnoticed at some point, so they are now planted in a large pot on our southfacing windowsill.
Does anyone think they stand any chance of growing?
I'm not convinced but will give them a shot

Absolutely. I was really chuffed
They do have the benefit of a location with the maximum amount of light possible and a steady temperature of around 17 or 18 so we will see.

I had leggy toms last year and got round it by burying them nice and deep into their final positions. It's quite fun really as I feel like they have set me a challenge

Don't think so. I reckon they will just gently give up the tomato ghost. They do need light and not just warmth. Hope I'm wrong so have fun trying.

What about keeping them really small?

Allowing one or two trusses, then it shouldn't get too leggy and may do better with less light.

Its one of those what have you to lose moments.

Expect the worst as it really is out of season - but as you have the greenhouse etc - you never know - a Brucie bonus could be on its way to you.

Put some foil behind the pot it will help reflect any sun onto the seedlings, then its fingers crossed if they grow.

I think they'll get leggy too. It's not just the temperature you can offer them which will help with flowering and fruiting, it's the day length. Your house lights are not enough to compensate for natural daylight.

They are currently on our bedroom windowsill which if anything gets more light than the greenhouse as it never gets shaded by anything and is south facing, so if they are going to work I reckon they're in the best spot for it. Fingers crossed, it would be a nice bonus to get some really early toms.

Don't forget that should you be lucky and get them through to flowering you'll almost certainly have to use a brush or similar to pollinate them as the trusty bees will not be available.
