Surprisingly, Waitrose on Ecclesall Road sold some along with green hazelnuts a couple of years ago. They usually have a Yorkshire produce section that's worth checking out. If I spy some there, I'll let you know, but take a look if you're around that way.
Our local greengrocer used to sell them, I love eating fresh walnuts, but we haven't seen any for a few years now. Perhaps it's one of those things only small local greengrocers sell, and there's not so many of those still around.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.

At our local street market you can buy wet walnuts. Am I too late for the ones you salt and pickle. My mum used to do them (god bless her). It seems to be a right messy job but before I pop my clogs (thanks google) I want to do it.
Very big! But I suppose they must start small. The trouble is that you have to wait 20 years for the first crop - and some of us don't have that long!!!

When I turned 60 I began to think like that. Thank goodness I ignored myself. Today I have mature plants to enjoy.
There were wet walnuts at our farm shop a few weeks back only for a couple of weeks yum. I kept them on the kitchen counter, no one could resist when visiting, I only got to eat a few and now there's no more I'm thinking of planting cobnuts though...
