I had mine inside from seedlings to fruiting, but the aphids got the better of me, and I gave in. They went outside to the greenhouse in September, and I've decided to start again with fresh seeds etc in January. I tried squashing by hand, spraying with washing up liquid, washing them off, then came the chemical sprays. Although I managed to keep them at bay for a while, I eventually got fed up with washing my windows, window sills and the chilli plants every weekend, and wishing I had time to do it in the week. I hope you find a solution that works for you. I never did understand how mine got aphids in the first place as they'd been indoors the whole while, in clean pots and fresh compostLast edited by BarleySugar; 19-11-2009, 07:24 PM.I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

I over-wintered several Chilli plants last Winter and they all had bad doses of Aphids. I got them outside when it was sunny and used a chemical spray. They all survived and have given good crops this year. Can't remember what spray I used, but will check tomorrow and report back. There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Anyway, the spray I used was "FRUIT & VEG BUG KILLER" from GROWING SUCCESS. It says it's suitable for organic gardening and is biodegradable. It's a contact insecticide, so you have to make sure you give the plants a thorough dousing. I harvested all the fruit off mine before I sprayed them. There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

When you are about to do the washing up, dunk the plant in the bowl of soapy water, that washes them off.

Just check to make sure your 'aphids' aren't the dreaded red spider mite. If they are, and they are quite common indoors, especially with central heating, they need immediate attention. Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
