I've got several different garlics in , a softneck and a hardneck, two sorts of elephant plus a friend gave me some single-bulb garlic which I've planted out and it's doing OK.... I want to find out if the growth habit is inherant to the variety or whether it's down to the plant being grown without a cold period to cause it to split..... If they don't split (or don't split much) then I'm going to try and save seed from them as I fancy the idea of a garlic that grows in the same way as seed onions, lpus the clove-bulbs were massive.... almost the size of elephant garlic cloves but much m,uch stronger... they're also way more convenient if you eat as much garlic as I do....

I do not have a clue to which type of garlic I planted as I Got some Jumbo garic from ASDA. Put them in the fridge for a week or two, then pushed each clove in until just a point showing and have not ventured out there sinse.The onions that went in at the same time out doing well, nearly 2 inches tall. All under a platic tent [home made]
