Everyone tells me these make you a bit windy!!! I fancied trying some till I was told this!!! Is it true?
There's another thread Lyndap about JA's and posts about their windiness. But Supersprout reckons feeding them in gradually (adding them to soups first) should help. Its not put me off!

Ooh! I hope ours grow well, then we can join in. Mr MB goes well on most things, this could be an experience worth recording!
Hi all, I've tried roasting the Jeru Arts, but they are always soggy and mushy, not crisp at all. What am I doing wrong? (My roast potatoes are perfection)

Just been to Tesco's where they are selling BOGOF packs of JA's for £1.00!!!
Two packs give you about 1 dozen good sized tubers! Not bad for a quid!
Now for a few questions:-
* Do I need to 'chit' them as I would for tatties?
* Do I plant them vertical?
* Can I cut the big ones to give me twice as many?
* How deep and how far apart do I plant em?
* When do I plant em?
PS They had banana shallots similar to pigletwillie's in packs there as well!

Can't see why not, but there height of growth may make them vunerable to blowing over!

* Do I need to 'chit' them as I would for tatties? No, put em in straight away.
* Do I plant them vertical? Yes
* Can I cut the big ones to give me twice as many? I wouldn't as they might rot
* How deep and how far apart do I plant em? Six inches deep and 2 ft<1m apart. Wider spacing (and staking) will give bigger tubers
* When do I plant em? As soon as you get em!
For Two Sheds:
JAs do have a habit of collapsing suddenly when cooked; they have a different starch structure to spuds and don't behave the same They will be soft in texture, but look better IMO if they retain their shape rather than 'explode'. Oven roasting gives them a gorgeous sticky jacket though!
I roast mine very hot (215C), after tossing in olive oil and salt. When they brown at the edges and the goo comes bubbling out (30-40 mins, depending on their size), I take them out of the oven and let them stand for ten minutes or so (to fully soften throughout, but keep their shape) before serving.
In winter there's often a container of pre-roast JAs in our fridge, they re-heat beautifully.
