It just says Broccoli Romanesco and they are Thompson & Morgan, that doesn't sound very exotic does it - LOL

Indeed. Blue Lake used to be our fave climbing bean when we lived in Derbyshire. But here in the Vale of Pewsey they just don't seem to like the growing conditions.
Looking for a.n.other climbing french bean this year, might try Cobra. To see a world in a grain of sand

Have grown these a couple of times and think they taste fantastic, more 'buttery' than your usual broccoli; downside is that it can be very difficult to see caterpillers hiding in the heads (not a pretty sight seeing them floating in the cooking water, yuk!). Fleece is essential IMHO.... I think the Real Seed Catalogue does a variety that can be autumn sown, maybe they wouldn't suffer in the same way. That said, I'd definitely give them a go for the flavour. All at once I hear your voice

Romanesco caulis are really nice, a bit lighter in texture than convential cauli but lovely lightly steamed. Not grown them so can't comment on that but my brother has and he had no problems.
Have grown Cobra climbing beans successfully for the past few years although won't be this year as i fancied a change and am going for something different, think they're Blauhilde, fancied trying the purple ones but not grown or eaten them before so may be back to what I know next year!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

We've grown Blauhilde the past 2 years (and will be this year too) - highly recommended as fresh pod and 'haricot-type' beans, big yield too. I'd offer to swop but we've only 10 seeds left.
Think we will be trying the romanesco - someone is selling Hungarian seeds pkts on ebay and I probably won't be able to resist! lol!To see a world in a grain of sand
