Do you leave every branch on the plant? Mine are doing really well, if a tad slow..the delights are about foot high now but they have loads and loads of branches, only just starting to show flowers on one truss. Should I leave them or prune them down a bit?

        Hi Elaine

Unless you have bush type tomato plants, you do need to remove all the side shoots. Just be careful at the top, in case you snap off the head instead of a shoot.
There is a short video on my blog about removing side shoots in case you have any doubt.

        • My first few Red Alert toms are just beginning to show signs of turning red. I was'nt expecting these to ripen so quickly but I think the sunny weather this past week has done the trick.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I only have one group of flowers apearing on one plant at the moment, will they produce more?
And is it just the side shoots that you have to remove someone once told me that you should only leave 4 or 5 branches on a tom plant I thought this sounded wrong so thought I would ask here first.

Well you will have more trusses appearing as the plant grows, so don't worry.
As for leaves, for now leave them all on as long as possible, unless they are damaged. I tend to only remove leaves below the ripened fruit.
But you can remove the two small seedling leaves though.

Are you sure that it is not a bush type plant, do you know the name?

                • Well gardeners delight is ok, but the other one is a bush type, so you should keep the shoots on!

Just your luck, can you find out for sure, or can you get a picture on here?

                            • I have picked a few Mexico Midget and Red Alert in the last few days. Its lovely to taste the flavour of a real home grown tom. The skin on the Red Alert seemed a bit tough but otherwise all was fine

Elaine, if the photos are on your laptop in your photos' file, they will automatically resize if you add them by adding the link method as I said, so you shouldn't really have a problem.
