  • Sweet potatoes too early

If you read the thread som way below about sweet potaoes you see i had done the exsperiment of growing them. All the information is in that thread but the main point is that i have put the shoot in water and roots are everywhere. I have not put them in dirt yet and not dare put them outside. When is the best time to put them outs ide in a pot and when isit the best time to transport them into the ground. Also is there anyway of slowing down there growth just so that winter passes.
Dont judge a plant by it's pot.

    Yikes- that is early!!!
I started mine in March and to be honest, that was too late!!
I'd pot them up and keep them in a cool ( not cold) bright place to slow down their growth - sounds like they need the nutrients from the compost now as I suspect they're starting to get a bit wrinkly????
Don't put them outside for quite a while- they really don't like the cold!

You can slow them down by keeping them cooler but what ever you do don't let them get frosted or you'll defo lose them. Think you may have a lot of work on your hands keeping them going until May / June when you can put them out but good luck with it.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
