Garlic in the snow - HELP

Hi

I planted some garlic a month ago and it has now heavily snowed in my area. Will the garlic surive. This is my first time growing garlic.

Garlic actually needs a period of frost to form the separate cloves so it will do your garlic good. Snow is an insulator too so leave it on, don't dust it off.

They do need the cold weather to clove, but Bob Flowerdew recommends putting soda bottles (with bottom cut off and cap removed) over them to encourage good growth on the warm days.. and to give them a good start in the spring. You could do that if you worry about the snow (I'm sure we'll have more on the way, so is supposed to come to Surrey this Saturday).
