Your fave windowsill chilli's?

Jalapeno's aren't too hot but then to someone who doesn't eat chilli's they are maybe too hot, I would recommend you try the Anaheim chilli which is really tame, it's a step or two up from a sweet pepper.

Take a look at the third one down, that's the Anaheim - Ready to Grow, Chilli Seeds, Tomato Seeds, Capsicum Seeds, Banana Seeds, Exotic Fruit Seeds

I have to say my little Gelbe Kirshens are wonderful. Hot, bright and have flavour rather than just the heat.

I must have had at least 120 off one plant; used them all summer, dried a load, saved a load for seed, gave a load away at college. And they fruited really early as well.

I've sown another batch yesterday; for 2010. If I was only able to grow one, it would be this one.

If you want them 'not so hot' then don't chop them when you cook and remove them before eating once the sauce is at a heat you like. One Top Tip courtesy of Incy's hubbie.

Razamataz % green finger chilli's

Hi all, this is my 1st proper year growing chilli's and they are doing wuite well i think. I was given a couple of Apache plants tail end ef last year and were still producing fruit right through the winter dec/jan and feb on my windowsil. this year I have grown from seed and tried several different types. Here are a couple of pics.
What do you think?

Just started having a few problems with caterpillars eating the leaves. Trying to keep on top of the but its not easy. Pesty blighters lol.

I had an alba which never got bigger than 10cm high! Very neat little plant, and I kept it with my other house plants.

I've got some bolivian rainbow - mainly for decorative purposes, but it's fruiting nicely.. only purple chillies at the moment though - looking forward to trying them soon.

Hey all, I've got a Prairie Fire which overwintered really well and is producing loads of little firey beasts, have also grown Pretty in Purple's this year which are also fruiting really well, not eaten any yet, but they are a lovely compact little plant with beautiful purpley bits on their leaves and flowers and dark purple round upright chilli's. Both varieties look good on a windowsill and still let the light in!

If you look on the seed swap forum you will find information on a number of pass the parcel seed swaps that have been organised for people who join the list. These have some strict rules though, including minimum number of posts / length of time you have been a member of the vine. This was to stop nasty mean people joining, just to run off with everyone's treasured seeds.

i agree that apache are good for the windowsill. they are compact, prolific, easy to grow and while they may not have the most flavour they pack a punch so always having them on hand to throw one in some pasta or whatever is cooking is great!

Not saying Ive got an IRON mouth or gut but I usually put between 5/10 of the Apache in my curries. And as for the kick, Try having a private scratch like I did Don't recomend it but it did make the missus laugh...

Hi Jeanied, thanks. did quick search and sounds a really good way of sharing your seeds. I've got quite a few seeds from my chilli plants now from last season and would love to share them. Give other people a chance to grow something they either can't get hold of or never grown before.

I've got, amongst others, razzamatazz and prairie fire on the go. Both good compact sizes for windowsills.

Lol, not at the time. I was running around, jumping up and down. Lesson learnt. Wash hands more thoroughly with soap!!!
