It doesn't get any better when you're an old idiot either, let me tell you!
I see you're an ex-smoker (as I am, long ago), I bet you'll have a propensity to get a bit addicted to things...*early warning* seed pkt collecting gets very addictive indeed! Someone will probably start another 'Hello, my name is 'blah' and I'd just like to say I'm addicted to buying seeds...' thread fairly soon!
I use a combination of methods, catalogues, trawling every GC I can find and online.

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
I thought Unwins and Marshalls were the same company? Is there much difference in their ranges?
Unwins were bought by Westland in 2004 I think. I'm not sure if S.E.Marshalls seeds are owned by them too?
btw, Suttons Seeds are owned by a French company.

I think D T Brown and Mr Fothergills are the same company, at least they share the same phone line. I'm a seed aholic as well I think in my unopened box I have nearly 500 packets and it never seems to go down. I am hoping to reduce it down considerably this year.

Beware of withdrawal symptoms following a seed sort out, this can lead to further manic, uncontrollable seed acquisition!

Know how you feel. When I (and more importantly, She Who Must Be Obeyed) Started getting this years attack of letsstartplantingthingsitis just before Christmas, I dug out my box(es) of stuff bought last year. Dozens and dozens of packets, many unopened. So I said to myself 'Self, you are not allowed to buy any more seeds this year'. And then immediately went on-line to Premier Seeds and spent over £20. I blame the weather, if we can't get out and plant them we need to buy them. Will we ever learn?

I went and bought a load of expensive F1 hybrid seeds and when I finally got round to checking my biscuit tins realised I already had the very same varieties in unopened packets from last year!
