I lay the lot on the patio after emptying the compost out then blast the lot with the pressure washer, all survivors are then recovered from around the garden when dry.

I never wash pots or trays; as others have said, I just tip out the dried stuff (I do mine onto the garden borders usually) then pop fresh in and sow/plant what I want to grow.
But then I am a bit of an amateur and lazy about all this.
If I ever get to a point of being more expert, I might recognise that I had a virus or something and be more careful, but right now, life is too short and busy for me to be bovver'd.

Most of the plants in pots are planted out on the lottie so I have a dishes brush by the side of one of the water butts on the lottie. I then usually wash all the trays and pots before I bring them back home. We are not allowed sheds or greenhouses on our lotties.
